hi well i use to have this computer that was windows 98 but the lady who i bought it from upgrade it it to windows xp. well one day i turned it off and wen i turned it back on da next morning it was like windows 98 all ugly. and the ip adress got erased some how adn so i thought it was a virus?! is it?
so i bought another computer which is windows me. and im trying to upgrade my new one to windows vista. but i was wondering if i can still upgrade my old computer even thought it might have a virus??? will the virus go away???

First thing was to check if the computer was compatible with XP to begin with. Upgrading to XP doesn’t make the computer work better if your system wasn’t a good canidate in the first place. If you have the disc she used, then reinstall XP back on it, and try it again. The once ya have it install get a free anti virus program to get it going again. Thinking about the ME computer, don’t waste your time or your money. Vista is a resourse hog, and your going to have a nightmare running Vista on a computer that ME on it.
