I own an E-machine computer and i recently carried it (among other things) across the country from Iowa to California it was fairly well protected (at least i thought it was) but i tried plugging it in and when I pushed the power button nothing happened. Any idea what the problem might be? Do i need a new computer?

First thing I would check is to make sure your power supply is working correctly. It could be something as simple as a dead battery and the power source not working so the computer is essentially dead.
If that doesn’t work try to see if anything else is picking up (i.e. wireless card…you can see this by the light on the front of the computer)
Next thing to do is check your warranty. See what’s covered, and check with the store where you purchased it.
Paying a few hundred is cheaper than a new comp. unless you just want something new.
Try the simple stuff first and then worry when nothing else works.
